How to Use the QR Code Generator
- Select the content type you want to encode: URL for website links, Text for plain text messages, WiFi for network credentials, Email for pre-addressed messages, or Phone for click-to-call numbers.
- Enter the data for your chosen type. For URLs, type the full web address including https://. For WiFi, enter the SSID, password, and encryption type. For email, provide the recipient address, optional subject, and body text.
- Adjust the size and error correction level if needed. Higher error correction (Level H) allows the QR code to remain scannable even if partially damaged or obscured — useful for printed materials subject to wear.

Understanding QR Codes and Their Applications
QR (Quick Response) codes are two-dimensional barcodes invented by Denso Wave in 1994 for tracking automotive parts. Unlike traditional one-dimensional barcodes that encode data only horizontally, QR codes encode data in both horizontal and vertical dimensions using a grid of black and white squares called modules. This allows QR codes to store significantly more data — up to 7,089 numeric characters, 4,296 alphanumeric characters, or 2,953 bytes of binary data — in a compact square footprint. The distinctive three-square finder pattern in the corners allows QR scanners to detect the code's orientation, size, and angle from virtually any direction.
QR codes use Reed-Solomon error correction, which enables the code to be read correctly even when up to 30% of the modules are damaged, dirty, or obscured. There are four error correction levels: L (7% recovery), M (15% recovery), Q (25% recovery), and H (30% recovery). Higher error correction levels make codes more resilient but also larger for the same amount of data. For printed materials that may be exposed to wear, moisture, or partial obstruction, Level H is recommended. For digital displays where the QR code will always be clean and complete, Level L suffices and produces a more compact code.
Modern QR code usage spans diverse applications. WiFi QR codes let guests connect to a network by scanning instead of typing a complex password. URL QR codes on business cards, flyers, and product packaging direct users to websites, menus, or app downloads. vCard QR codes encode contact information that saves directly to a phone's address book. Payment QR codes enable mobile transactions in systems like Alipay, WeChat Pay, and PayPal. Event ticketing, boarding passes, restaurant menus, and contactless check-in all rely on QR codes.
